The Ministry of Health through data modeling predicts more than 8,000 new Covid-19 infections a day by June if the public does not adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) against Covid-19.
The latest estimates, first published on May 12, show a surge in infections compared to previous forecasts.
Earlier, the Health Ministry had predicted around 5,000 new cases every day in June.
However, the actual number consistently exceeded previous forecasts. The latest estimates are more in line with the actual number of cases.
SOP compliance is expected to increase following the implementation of the third movement control order (PKP 3.0) which came into effect on May 12.

The model predicts that if there is strict adherence to SOPs, then the number of daily cases can be reduced to less than 1,000 infections.
As of yesterday, the average number of new cases for seven days totaled 4,307 infections.
Yesterday’s infectious rate was at RT 1.13. It must be lowered below RT 1.0 to stop the exponential growth of new Covid-19 cases.
The infectious rate has not dropped below RT 1.0 since April 7th.
