Covid-19: Another 3,551 cases recorded, Selangor figures stay above 1,000

PUTRAJAYA: There were 3,551 new Covid-19 cases recorded in the country on Thursday (May 6), says the Health Ministry, a slight decrease from 3,744 cases the previous day.

Selangor still has more than 1,000 cases, recording 1,137 new infections.


Since the pandemic began last year, Malaysia has recorded 427,927 Covid-19 cases in total.


There were also 19 more Covid-19 fatalities, bringing the death toll up to 1,610.

Currently, there are 354 patients under intensive care treatment, up from 328 on Wednesday (May 5).


Of that number, 199 patients are on ventilator support compared to 185 the day before.


Another 2,709 patients were discharged from treatment, bringing the total number of Covid-19 recoveries to 392,555.


Eight other states recorded three-digit figures in their daily case loads – Kuala Lumpur with 477 cases, Sarawak (391), Kelantan (326), Penang (305), Johor (258), Perak (137) and Kedah (112).
