Covid-19 cases reaching an all-time high of 6,976 cases, including 49 deaths

In the last 24 hours, the health ministry has reported a new high of 6,976 Covid-19 cases and 49 deaths. On May 20, the previous high was 6,806 instances.
Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the director-general of health, said 3,587 people had recovered, bringing the total number of people discharged to 452,821.
Noor Hisham announced in a statement that the overall number of infections has now reached 512,091.There are currently 57,022 active cases, with 681 patients receiving intensive care and 361 requiring mechanical ventilation. Meanwhile, the 49 deaths bring the total number of people who have died to 2,248.
Today, there were 6,971 local infections, with 6,324 Malaysians and 647 foreigners among them, as well as five imported cases.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases, with 2,235.
This was followed by Sarawak (663), Kelantan (626), Johor (549), Kuala Lumpur (447), Negeri Sembilan (434), Kedah (422), Penang (372), Perak (279), Terengganu (266), Pahang (263), Melaka (209), Sabah (136), Labuan (37), Putrajaya (30) and Perlis (8).
The 49 dead comprised 48 Malaysians and one foreigner, aged between 25 and 93. All but eight had existing medical conditions.
