KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, May 18 — Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the director-general of health, has voiced worry over the introduction of new Variants of Concern (VOC), noting that many patients show no symptoms and that their Covid-19 screening tests often come back negative.
Nonetheless, he stated that several people were already in serious condition.
Dr. Noor Hisham stated in a statement today that these VOCs spread quickly and were associated to high death rates.
He went on to say that while most people infected with these versions did not have symptoms like cough or fever, they did have joint discomfort, fatigue, and a loss of appetite.
“Some people also don't exhibit classic Covid-19 symptoms including a loss of smell or taste,” says the researcher. These novel versions, on the other hand, spread fast to the lungs.
“A huge majority of patients do not have a fever, even yet an X-ray scan reveals symptoms of pneumonia,” he added.
As a result, Dr. Noor Hisham asked the public to be attentive and follow the self-movement control order (MCO) to prevent contracting the pandemic.
The latest Covid-19 wave, he said, was more dangerous than earlier ones.
“We must never be casual and constantly be vigilant. If you don't have something significant to do outdoors, stay at home. He stated, "We must practice self MCO."
He also advised people to stay away from crowded and enclosed areas, maintain physical distance, wear face masks, and wash their hands with soap or sanitizer on a regular basis.
