Health Ministry denies fake news that Covid-19 cases hit 10,000

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has debunked reports that the country's Covid-19 case count had surpassed 10,000 on Friday (May 21).

"The information provided is incorrect.

“(We) appeal to all Malaysians to refrain from sharing,” the ministry stated on Facebook on Friday.

In less than an hour after it was published, the post had over 2,500 shares.

The ministry said that spreading fake news would disrupt and affect the efforts of the ministry’s frontlines who are battling the pandemic.

It reminded the public to get its information from their official platforms.
