Regardless of the weather, we feel that smoothies are the ideal lunch or snack. It's never too late to enjoy a delicious smoothie! Smoothies are a delicious way to have a meal on the run. Let's look at why we want to make a fruit smoothie before we go into how to prepare one. Smoothies may be a nutrient-dense addition to your diet. It's always preferable to consume entire fruits and vegetables whenever feasible, as we constantly emphasize. However, this isn't always feasible! Smoothies make it simple to get all of the nutrients from your favorite fruits and vegetables into one drinking cup.

And, let's face it, smoothies are just wonderful! We think that food should feed both your body and your spirit, and if sipping a wonderfully tangy and sweet smoothie makes you smile, then that's as healthy as healthy can be.

Making a fruit smoothie is as easy as tossing ingredients into a blender and letting it go, but we want to make sure you get it right the first time, so here's how we do it:

  • Add liquid to your blender. We typically use unsweetened almond milk, but you could use any other kind of milk, fruit juice, or even just water.

  • Add in any fibrous foods. If you are adding in spinach or other greens, this is the time to toss them in.

  • Add in your frozen fruits and vegetables. We like to keep at least frozen bananas and frozen strawberries on hand for smoothie making. Any frozen fruit works!

  • Add any fresh fruits or veggies you’d like to use. Here is where you’ll toss in fresh strawberries or avocado half.

  • Top it off with your favorite nutrition mix-ins. Add protein powder, collagen, chia seeds, turmeric—whatever you’d like to boost the nutrition of the smoothie.

  • Blend away! We like to start our blender on low and then slowly ramp-up to full speed. This makes sure everything is mixed well and the blades don’t get stuck. We blend until the smoothie looks silky, and then we pour and enjoy.

All of these smoothies start with frozen fruit, which provides a wonderful sweetness basis from which you may add more if your preferences want. Our advice is to make your smoothie without any extra sweetness and then taste it. To taste, add honey or maple syrup.

Go for it! if you want to broaden your smoothie horizons. Add chia seeds, protein powder, hemp seeds, flax, or whatever else your heart desires. You can also freeze booster packets of your favorite mix-ins if you have a typical set that you enjoy—perfect for super-quick smoothies!
