MCO to be imposed in Kuantan, several districts in Penang and Perak

PETALING JAYA: The movement control order will be extended to Kuantan, Pahang, as well as several districts in Penang and Perak, says Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He also said the enhanced MCO (EMCO) would be enforced in Kampung Meripoh and Kota Bahagia in Rompin, Pahang, as well as several apartments in Genting Highlands.
Ismail Sabri said the MCO in Kuantan, Pahang would be enforced from May 10 until May 23, after 1,578 cases were reported on May 7.
"The Health Ministry also confirmed that there is an increase in sporadic cases, with 10 active clusters at the moment," he said in a statement on Saturday (May 8).
Ismail Sabri said the MCO would be enforced in three districts in Penang (Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Tengah, Seberang Perai Selatan), and three sub-districts (Mukim 12, Barat Daya, Bandar Butterworth, and Mukim 14) from May 10 to 23, after 14 active clusters were reported." With the implementation of the MCO, interstate and inter-district travel is not allowed," he added.
In Perak, Ismail Sabri said the MCO would be enforced in the Hulu Kinta sub-district covering Ipoh, Lahat, Chemor, and Tanjung Rambutan, from May 10 to 23.
This was after 176 positive cases were reported after 1,185 individuals were screened.
Ismail Sabri said the MCO would also be implemented at Pengkalan Hulu and Belukar Semang at Hulu Perak from May 10 to 23.
"The Health Ministry reported drastic increase at two institutes at Pengkalan Hulu with a high positivity rate," he added.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the EMCO would be enforced in Kampung Meripoh and Kota Bahagia in Rompin, Pahang from May 10 to 23.
This was after 11 positive cases were detected in 221 screenings conducted, with 188 samples still awaiting results, he said.
He also said the EMCO would also be enforced at the Genting View Resort, Apartment Meranti, Windmills Condo, Vista Residences, Apartment Mawar, Midhill apartment, and Apartment Ramin from May 10 to 23, after 13 positive cases were detected from 50 screenings.
Meanwhile, Ismail Sabri said the enhanced MCO enforced at Kampung Dambai Inanam, Sabah had ended after decreases in Covid-19 cases.
"The Health Ministry reported that there is a decrease in cases and the clusters are under control," he said.
The EMCO at two localities (Bandar Sri Indah, and Kg Titingan) in Tawau, Sabah will also end.
