Record 61 deaths, 6,509 new Covid-19 cases

In the last 24 hours, the health ministry has recorded a total of 61 Covid-19-related deaths, which is a new high. There were also 6,509 Covid-19 cases registered, according to the study.
The previous highest number of deaths in a single day was 59 on May 20.
Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah, the health director-general, said in a statement that 3,452 people had recovered, taking the total number of people discharged to 456,273.
A total of 518,600 infections have been recorded. There are 60,018 active cases, with 711 patients receiving intensive care and 369 needing mechanical ventilation.
According to the ministry, the number of patients admitted to the intensive care unit is at an all-time high.
In the meantime, the 61 deaths bring the total number of people who have died to 2,309. Today, there were 6,489 local infections, with 5,931 Malaysians and 558 foreigners among them, along with 20 imported cases. With 2,049 infections, Selangor had the most, with 1,536 infections detected from near contacts and 111 from clusters.
This was followed by Sarawak with 530 cases, Johor (468), Kuala Lumpur (468), Kelantan (451), Penang (384), Kedah (348), Negeri Sembilan (329), Melaka (329), Terengganu (263), Pahang (257), Perak (231), Sabah (184), Labuan (171), Putrajaya (40) and Perlis (7).
All 61 who died were Malaysians aged between 27 and 98. All but 11 had existing medical conditions.
